Dogan, Associate Professor of Law
Stacey Dogan is Associate Professor of Law at
Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, MA. She
received her J.D. from Harvard University and her B.S.
in economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Before joining the Northeastern faculty in 1998, Stacey
practiced law in Washington, D.C., and California, and served
as a law clerk on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C.
Circuit. In practice, Professor Dogan represented major corporations,
trade associations, and sports leagues in domestic and international
antitrust and intellectual property matters.
Professor Dogan writes and teaches in the areas of
intellectual property and antitrust law, with a
particular focus on the unique challenges raised by
computer technology and the Internet. Her current
research examines the role of technology providers and communication
conduits in facilitating widespread copying and distribution of
copyrighted content, and asks whether copyright law should hold
them accountable for such use of their products.
Professor Dogan has presented her research at numerous
national and international conferences, and her writings
have appeared in journals including the Iowa Law Review,
the Hastings Law Journal, and the Boston College Law
Review. She is an active participant in educational
programs with the local bar, leading seminars and
discussions for the Boston Bar Association, Massachusetts Continuing
Legal Education, and the Massachusetts Volunteer Lawyers for the
Arts. She has also participated in executive training sessions through
the Northeastern University High-Technology MBA program.
