Harry Lane , Darla and Frederick Brodsky Trustee Professor in International Business

Harry Lane is the Darla and Frederick Brodsky Trustee Professor in International Business at Northeastern University. Prior to joining Northeastern in September 1999, Professor Lane was at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. He was the Associate Editor of the Journal of International Business Studies for five years when it was located at Ivey. He has been a Visiting Professor at Groupe HEC in France, the Koblenz School of Corporate Management and Nordakademie in Germany, the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration in Finland, IPADE in Mexico and INALDE in Colombia. He teaches courses in Cross-Cultural Management, Executing Global Strategy and Valuing and Managing Diversity.

Professor Lane received his BS from the University of Massachusetts, MBA from Boston College and DBA in Organizational Behavior from the Harvard Business School.

He has authored or co-authored four books and numerous articles, and in the area of international business and cross-cultural management he has written over 70 case studies. The fourth edition of the text International Management Behavior (with J.J. DiStefano and Martha L Maznevski) was published in April 2000. His book, Border Crossings: Doing Business in the United States. (with Wendy Evans and Shawna O’Grady) was a finalist for the Canadian 1992 National Business Book Award. He is co-editing the Handbook of Global Organizing and Managing to be published by Blackwell in 2003.

His articles have appeared in the Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Executive, Journal of World Business, Management International Review, Organizational Dynamics, Journal of Business Ethics, International Studies of Management and Organization, Journal of Business Administration, Journal of Management Development, R & D Management and the International Journal of Organizational Analysis.

Professor Lane’s research interests are intercultural management, the management of global innovation, and organizational learning and strategic renewal.

Professor Lane also is active as a consultant and faculty member for university and corporate courses around the world. He has taught diversity and cross-cultural courses for organizations such as the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Exxon Company International, Rensaeleer Polytechnic Institute, Schneider Electric North America, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, EMC and a consortium of Mexican companies including CEMEX, Alfa, Modelo, IMSA and AXA.
