Professor Zack received his
Doctorate Degree from the Harvard Business School
, MBA from Northwestern University
(Kellogg) Graduate School of Management, and a BS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. His research
and publications focus on the use of information and knowledge to increase
organizational performance effectiveness and competitive advantage. He was formerly
a Research Associate of the IBM Knowledge Management Institute and a Research
Fellow of the Lotus Institute (Lotus Development Corp.), and currently a
Research Fellow of the Monieson Centre (Queen’s Business School). His
publications have appeared in a number of leading journals including
Organization Science, Sloan Management Review, California Management Review,
Information Systems Research, and Information & Management, and are some of
the most cited works in his field. He edited the book Knowledge and Strategy (Butterworth-Heinemann). He previously held
positions as a CEO for a leasing company and as a management consultant with a
major public accounting firm. Professor Zack serves as a consultant in the
areas of knowledge-based strategy, strategic information and knowledge
management, knowledge-based products and services, and collaborative
technologies. He helped start the
College’s highly successful Online
MBA Program, and served as the first Executive Faculty Director of online
graduate programs for the College.
In a former life, Mike was a struggling jazz musician, and now plays sax
with the R&B band Hot Biscuits,
the jam band Mostly
Young, and the jazz band Morningside
Jazz Ensemble.
