Professor Zack holds a DBA degree from Harvard Business School, an MBA from Northwestern University, and a BS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. His research and publications have focused on the use of information and knowledge to increase organizational performance effectiveness. A member of the Society for Information Management (SIM), Professor Zack was designated a SIM doctoral fellow in 1989. He was formerly a Research Associate of the IBM Knowledge Management Institute and a Research Fellow of the Lotus Institute (Lotus Development Corp.). His publications have appeared in a number of leading journals including Organization Science, Sloan Management Review, California Management Review, Information Systems Research, and Information & Management. He edited the book Knowledge and Strategy (Butterworth-Heinemann). He previously held positions as a CEO for a leasing company and as a management consultant with a major public accounting firm. Professor Zack serves as a consultant in the areas of strategic information and knowledge management, knowledge-based products and services, and collaborative technologies. He has consulted to a number of organizations, including Procter & Gamble, IRI, National Houseware Manufacturers Association, Lotus Development Corporation, Lincoln National Re, Buckman Labs, Polaroid, and Price Waterhouse.
