Background
Experience:
Dr. Olubunmi Faleye
joined the D'Amore McKim School of Business as an Assistant
Professor of Finance in September 2002 and was promoted to Associate
Professor in July 2008, and Professor in July 2014. He
holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration (first class honors) and an
M.Sc. in Business Administration, both from the
University of Lagos, Nigeria,
and a Ph.D. in Finance from the
University of Alberta, Canada. Prior
to joining Northeastern, Dr. Faleye taught courses in Corporate
Finance, Investments, and Financial Institutions at the
University of Alberta and
Trinity Western University. Prior
to commencing doctoral studies, he was employed as an accountant
with a major multinational corporation and completed the
professional examinations of the
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, England. He also
completed the Chartered Financial Analysts program and was awarded
the
CFA charter in September
2004.
Research Interests:
Dr. Faleye’s research focuses
on empirical corporate finance with emphasis on corporate
governance, mergers and acquisitions, executive compensation, and
related topics in agency theory. His work has been published or accepted for publication in the
Journal of Finance,
Journal of Financial Economics,
Journal of Financial & Quantitative Analysis, and
Journal of Banking & Finance, among others.
He
has also presented papers at academic meetings in several countries,
including the U.S., Canada, Italy, Finland, Japan, Spain, and
Australia. He is a member of the American Finance Association,
Western Finance Association, Financial Management Association, and
the CFA Institute.
